How We Do the Work
We start with the vehicle identification number and confirm the equipment attached to the windshield. We trim the old urethane as required by the adhesive system, clean the bonding surfaces, and apply primer where required. If we uncover damage that needs additional repair, we explain it before setting the glass.
We apply a continuous urethane bead and place the replacement windshield in position. We check alignment and contact around the opening, then reinstall the removed parts. We inspect the finished installation and perform a leak check when the adhesive instructions allow it.
Before returning the vehicle, we give you the minimum drive-away time for the adhesive and installation conditions. We also explain any remaining camera calibration work and aftercare instructions. The time spent installing the glass and the time before driving are separate parts of the appointment.
What Changes the Work
Glass features affect both the part and the work. Two vehicles of the same model year can use different windshields. We confirm the camera mount, sensor connections, and other features so the replacement matches the vehicle's equipment.
A windshield-mounted camera can add ADAS windshield camera recalibration. We check the vehicle's procedure to determine whether it requires static calibration, dynamic calibration, or both. Static calibration uses targets positioned around the vehicle. Dynamic calibration requires a prescribed drive under the required conditions. We account for that work when planning the appointment.
Rust, damaged trim, and old adhesive left by a previous installation can add preparation or parts. We inspect what is accessible before removal and check the exposed opening afterward. A new windshield needs a sound bonding surface.
